Tom Struzick, Health Work Group, Chair
Tom Struzick, MSW/ACSW, L.C.S.W. / M.Ed. is a professional social worker. He is the Associate Director of the Community Health Resource Development Core in the UAB Center for the Study of Community Health with the School of Public Health. He is also a Program Manager for a variety of community health projects for over 20 years. Additionally, since 1995, Tom has been an adjunct instructor with the UAB Undergraduate Social Work Education program. He regularly teaches the Social Work Values and Ethics class. He has also taught social work practice classes on Diversity, HIV, Medical/Mental Health, Generalist Practice, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, and Social Welfare Policy Analysis.  
 
Tom’s professional interests are in helping community leaders and lay persons to increase their involvement in working with public health professionals in the design, implementation, and evaluation of community-based health promotion and disease/injury prevention programs and services.   He is especially interested in working on projects involving planning and conducting community needs assessments, program design, and strategic planning. He is also skilled in the area of cultural competence training and social work practice with communities and organizations.
